We Know It's Still Summer But There's Lots Of Fall Fun Ahead In Bucks County

Okay, okay, we know it's only early August. But get ready for some fall fun in Bucks County.

LAHASKA, PA — Get ready for some fall fun in Bucks County.

Okay, okay, we know it's only early August. But plans are in the works for fall fun that involves scarecrows and pumpkins and other cool autumnal things.

It's all happening at Peddler’s Village, where the 38th Annual Scarecrow Competition and Display will begin on Monday, September 11 and go through Sunday, October 29.

During the competition, the public can vote for their favorite scarecrows. Ballots are available in all shops and restaurants. The ballot boxes are located in the Hospitality Center at the Cock ‘n Bull, Giggleberry Fair, and Buttonwood Grill.

Scarecrows will be divided into the following categories:

  • Out of this World Scarecrow
  • Thrills with Chills
  • Group
  • Quite the Character
  • Traditional
  • Kids Only

In addition to the Scarecrow Competition, which is a must-see if you have young children, there will be a weekend dedicated solely to the scarecrows. The Annual Scarecrow Festival will be held on Saturday, September 16, and Sunday, September 17, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

It is a weekend of fall family fun, including scarecrow-making workshops, pumpkin painting, live musical entertainment and children’s activities.

Here is some more information, according to Peddler's Village:

The Scarecrow-Making Workshops will take place both days on the Street Road Green at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. During the workshops, Peddler’s Village staff will teach you how to create a unique, life-size scarecrow to take home and display. All scarecrow building materials are included in the $35 fee, maximum four people per scarecrow. Space is limited.

Pumpkin Painting will take place on the Street Road Green both days from 11 a.m. until supplies run out. Brushes, paint and pumpkins will be provided and a nominal fee will be charged based on pumpkin weight. No reservations are needed. Activity is first-come, first-served.
