When Will We Feel 'Dangerous' 102 Heat Index Monday In PA?

Summer hasn't officially arrived yet, but we're in for some scorching heat Monday in Eastern Pennsylvania. Here is the timeline.

Summer hasn't officially arrived yet, but we're in for some scorching heat Monday in Eastern Pennsylvania.

The National Weather Service says "dangerously hot conditions" are likely across the Philadelphia region Monday afternoon through early evening. Heat index values up to 102 degrees are possible, according to the NWS.

A Heat Advisory is in place from noon through 8 p.m. Monday. According to the Weather Channel's hourly forecast, peak heat is predicted between 1 and 6 p.m.

"Try to limit outdoor activities during the hottest portion of the day. If you must be outside, take frequent breaks, wear light weight, loose-fitting clothing, and drink plenty of water," the NWS said.

The temperatures could break records, and force school closures. The record high temperature for Philadelphia on June 18 is 96 degrees set in 1957.

The NWS is warning people to take proper precautions, as heat illnesses are possible with this kind of weather. "The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure," the NWS said.

Residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids and stay in the air conditioning if possible. Those who work outside should postpone strenuous activities to early morning or evening.

Temperatures will cool down Tuesday, with a high in the upper 80s predicted.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 93. Heat index values as high as 101. Light southwest wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning.

Tonight: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southwest wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between 8am and 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. North wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 62. North wind around 6 mph.

Wednesday: A slight chance of showers after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 60.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.
