Whether you say Huzzah or ARGG, the 17th Village Renaissance Faire this Coming Weekend is for Your Entire Family

In Honour of next weekends How to Talk like a Pirate Day, the Village Renaissance Faire add a pyratanical flair to its King Arthurian based Faire. Not only will we hear Hear Ye! Here Ye!, but this year we embark on hearing a chorus of LAND HOY!!! as well as a fleet comes ashore....... The Village Renaissance Faire returns its merriment and mystique to the Middletown Grange Fairgrounds this Sept 17 & 18, for its glorious 17th year, with even more performers and offerings than ever before. When asked why, founder and volunteer faire director Ken Hone simply says, Why Not!?!

LAND HOY!!!!!!... Pirates of Fortune’s Folly have come ashore and will steal your hearts and minds to see and experience pyrates like never before, from their interactive shows and comic relief, their demonstrations and challenges, and their encampment and fleet, to their all day interactive theatre, the create a world where everyone will want to talk pyrate. The pyraterical crew will entice all to come to their pirate camp for plenty of games and mystery during ones of their several shows over the weekend. The Pirates of Fortune’s Folly present” “Mutiny on the Folly! When the crew of Fortune’s Folly make plans to take over, no-one is safe….(including them!) Like all aspects at this faire, their piratical antics are appropriate for audiences of all ages. One of a kind pyrate shows shall capture the heart and souls of attendees young, old and in between. The inner-pyrate in all of us will be revealed. Attendees will first be graced by Pyrat-mosphere, meeting and greeting pirates in full garb, gear, accents, and of course, swagger! One will surely want to capture these piratical memory moments. Captain Colin remembers when he started many years ago at the faire as a role player and attributes that opportunity to his growth and the creation of this innovative, interactive, and educational ensemble.

And what type of shows can these seafarers bring to our land, well the Blunder of the Seven Seas!, a stunt show spectacular where the Pirates of Fortune’s Folly learn the “Rules” (if there really are any) of being a correct and proper pyrate! Plenty of action, music, and laughs will fill the grounds, and some willing (or if need be unwilling) volunteers ae press-ganged onto the crew to make the show fun and exciting for all.

A literary based Renaissance Faire benefitting the public library could not occur with multiple story-times, tales, and perspectives. And the pirates will not disappoint. “Dead Men Tell No Tales” go through fairytales, ghost stories, movies, and books (well probably picture books), as classic tales are misremembered and retold like never before by the best story-tellers – Pirates. Pyratical “authentical” sea shanties will fill the ships, islands, encampment and dock that will rest this one weekend in Wrightstown. And since the faire is, after all, designed for you, audience participation is strongly encouraged.

The Edutainment aspect of the sea farers is never too far away. XX Double-Cross XX: The Pirate Quiz Show!, will test your pyratical knowledge against the Fortune’s Folly’s “smarts.” Attendees will be questioned about (what else) Pirate History, and all contestants will be in “jeopardy” with the losers walking a plank and the winners walking away with the pyrate treasure, if they can only figure out how. Fun and History for all ages. The Montessori in us all can be explored through lectures about Pirate related topics such as: “Knot-ical skills” Sailor’s Knots and Uses”, “She-Wolf: Women Pirates”, “The Pointy End: Pirate Weapons & Safety”, as the young, young at heart, and anyone with an inkling have fun learning about History from the best teachers, according to the …PYRATES. The Course of the Faire and Shows is as creative as Captain Jack Sparrows compass, but one thing is for shore, it all points to FUN!!! Crew includes but is not limited to: Jeff Cleve, Colin Gregory Antes, Stephanie Olson, Colin Gordon; Stephanie Krause.

Dont fret loyal fairegoers, although this ensemble brings with it a hysterical crew, never-ending interaction and a literal fleet of ships and activities, there mere fact they could be the show itself, does not mean they will be. The Faire will still boast its incredible cast of both new and returning players and shows. For those who are new or those who spent a day and just could not see it all, dont worry this lasts and entire weekend and shows are different each day.

This year’s faire will again feature its olde favorites such as jousting knights, flying birds of prey, fire breathers, aerialists, and Living Literature while hosting historical shire events and demonstrations. More than 30 acts will grace the fairgrounds and provide continuous entertainment and exhibits fill the 11 stages, and faireways, that have become so profitable and renowned that this year, rumors have it that the lands might be saved by the most common of people who have changed their stars and become White Knights. We are sure that the power of the Faire's Cause led by prices of a mere $5 a student and all riches earmarked for charity, that the village glen will not only rejoice an intriguing new guests but band together for an even more profitable and glorious year in which overcome the initial plans of their new “guests.” But how, you must come and see.

Interactive activities for visitors will fill the day as each performers is accustomed to visiting and guiding patrons in their craft. Patrons will spin, weave, juggle, dance, and learn to play music in addition to the many lessons at the renaissance School of Fine Arts, Living History pavilion, and Kids Kingdom interactive play land. It is here where we not only see have to play chess with actors as well as chess pieces that stand 3 feet tall, but also if they so dare, participate in the kinds Quest, they too can become part of the show at the closing ceremonies…yes they can be part of the joust show.

Games olde and new fill the grounds, ratapult, throwing fits, castleplunk, chickenshot into a pot, Jacobs ladder, thrown weapons, and more. But the animals lovers are not left out, with pony rides, carriages and a royal petting zoo stretched across the faire.

Last years addition of dragon sized games will continue to expand as the offerings will filled and enjoyed by children of all ages, even if just at heart, boasts the gray haired faire director who seems to enjoy the games as much as anyone. So what bigger than life games can be expected, dominos and jenga to draughts and dragons, and ladders. There will also be running games, pyrate obstacle course, and disappearing pyrate island of gold. In the end, it does not matter who wins, as the true is sportsmanship, respect, and fun that is had by all.

SO what else is new? There are magical and gaming additions as well. There is simply too much to write at once, so please feel free to peruse our website and facebook pages for our animal, magical, gaming, living history, and childrens additions. So whetehr you coose ARRG or HUZZAH!! (or both is fine too!!!), the 17th VIllage Renaissance Faire set for Sept 17 & 18 is for you, and your ENTIRE family.
