On June 24, 2016, Julian LaPlante was involved in a car accident where he was propelled 50 feet out of the window and landed on his head. He broke every bone in his face, except for his teeth and lower jaw. Julian was not expected to survive. Miraculously, he survived a traumatic brain injury and after spending three weeks in the hospital and one week in rehab, he is now at home. Because of the accident, LaPlante is unable to work and with hospital and rehabilitation bills in excess of $30,000, his family is reaching out to the community for help.

“My son had an adventurous spirit; he hiked the Appalachian Trail and spent 50 days in the Minnesota wilderness,” said Julian’s mother Rita Romanova-Gekht, owner of The Artful Collector & Studio in Frenchtown, NJ. “Now his post-accident life is dramatically limited. He can’t drive or work and he is not on disability. We are hoping that the community will come out on January 28 for a night of food, fun and entertainment in support of Julian.”
