Woman Arrested On Assault Charges: Newtown Township Police Report

Police also investigated several scams, a check that had been altered, and a retail theft.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA - The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Sept. 25 and Oct. 1, including the arrest of a woman on simple assault and harassment charges and an investigation into an altered check.

September 25

At 9:37 p.m. police were dispatched to Acme Markets for a report of a retail theft. The investigation is ongoing.

September 26

At 1:34 pm police spoke with a resident regarding a possible scam. The resident received a call from an individual claiming to be with the U.S. Marshals Office and stating that there was a warrant for her arrest. The suspect talked the resident into downloading an app and then took control of her devices. The resident realized this was a scam and stopped communication. There was no monetary loss.

September 28

At 12:50 p.m. police spoke with a resident regarding a possible scam. The resident received a call from someone impersonating a Bucks County Sheriff who said that she missed jury duty and would be arrested if she did not pay a fine. The resident realized this was a scam and there was no monetary loss.

At approximately 2:42 p.m. police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, a woman was arrested and charged with simple assault and harassment.

September 30

At approximately 2:48 p.m. police spoke with a resident regarding a report of a fraud involving an altered check. The date, recipient’s name, and the amount of the check had all been changed, and an attempt had been made to deposit or cash the check. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
