“Women at the 1777-1778 Valley Forge Encampment"

The March meeting of the Newtown Historic Association will be held on Monday, March 21st at 7:30 PM at the Half-Moon Inn, 105 Court St. (Court St. & Centre Ave.), Newtown.

The Newtown Historic Association has invited Nancy Loane – who will speak on “Women at the 1777-1778 Valley Forge Encampment” She is the author of the book “Following the Drum: Women at Valley Forge Encampment” in 2009.

Nancy K. Loane, Ed. D. a former seasonal ranger at Valley Forge National Historical Park has studied more than five hundred Revolutionary War-era diaries, journals, letters, orderly books and records. A Pa. Commonwealth Speaker 2006-2007 she has presented more than 200 lectures in 6 states about the women at the Valley Forge encampment.

Dr. Loane is a founding member of the American Revolution Round Table of Philadelphia and an honorary lifetime member of the Society of the Descendants of Washington’s Army at Valley Forge.
