Youth Orchestra of Bucks County Presents Spring Concerts
The Youth Orchestra of Bucks County (YOBC) returns to the stage on Saturday April 13th and Sunday April 14th

The Youth Orchestra of Bucks County (YOBC) returns to the stage on Saturday April 13th and Sunday April 14th, 2024. All YOBC ensembles will share their talents and hard work through an exciting concert weekend.
YOBC offers exceptional music education programs for students in grades 3-12 and includes young musicians from over 14 school districts in Bucks and the surrounding counties. Five YOBC ensembles will be performing on Saturday April 13th at 2pm at Holland Middle School. Saturday’s concert will feature YOBC’s three string ensembles and the Wind Symphony, followed by Philharmonia, performing movements of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 “Pastoral,” Elgar’s Enigma Variations, Op.26, and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 8.
Sunday’s performances include the YOBC Concert Winds and Symphony Orchestra. These ensembles will be sharing the Sunday April 14th concert, held at 4pm at Delaware Valley University’s Life Sciences Auditorium. This concert is not to be missed, as YOBC student Nicolas Feng, one of the winners of the Concerto Soloist Competition, will be performing Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 3 in E-flat Major. Nicolas is a senior at Central Bucks South High School.

Also, of note in the Sunday performance is the piece In Retrospect, composed by 19-year-old Princeton University Student Ian Barnett. Ian has composed pieces for orchestra, chamber, quartet, and piano, and has been a finalist in the prestigious ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Award with his orchestral composition “Tempestas. In Retrospect was premiered in 2023 by the Greater Miami Youth Symphony in Miami, Florida. The YOBC Symphony Orchestra will also be presenting Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy and William Walton’s Crown Imperial Coronation March
Tickets - $20 for adults and $10 for students and seniors – can be purchased online at yobc.org/tickets. Founded in 1991, YOBC creates opportunities for young musicians to achieve artistic excellence through enriching classical music experiences. YOBC is currently accepting auditions and will be enrolling new students for the 2024-2025 season. Students must be in grades 3-12 and play a strings, brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument.
