Zoës Kitchen Closes Abruptly At Goodnoe's Corner In Newtown

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Zoës Kitchen closed its Newtown location abruptly this week leaving only a hand written note on the door of the Goodnoe Corner eatery.

The note read simply, “Closed Permanently.”

Zoës Kitchen, a fast casual restaurant chain specializing in Mediterranean-inspired food, opened in 2013 at Goodnoe Corner. It replaced Cosi, which had relocated to the Newtown Business Commons.

The 98-seat restaurant specialized in a variety of fresh salads and entrees, including shrimp, salmon and chicken kabobs, falafel and salad, salmon, steak and lamb pitas, chicken and orzo soup, humus and avocado smash. It also offered a signature chocolate cake.

The doors of the former Zoës Kitchen are padlocked.

The Cava Group, which owns Zoës Kitchen, has been closing Zoës Kitchen across the nation and reopening them under the CAVA brand. CAVA is a Mediterranean culinary brand that touts itself as a healthy fast-casual restaurant experience.

There’s no word on what will happen at its former Newtown location, which overlooks the busy intersection of Route 532 and Durham Road.
