11 Pets Rescued From Norristown Fire Over Weekend

Six cats and five dogs were rescued from a fire in Norristown over the weekend, and now they need your help.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- Six cats and five dogs were rescued from a house fire in Norristown over the weekend.

The blaze occurred Saturday night on the 200 block of Oak Tree Road in Norristown, authorities said.

Crews from the Norristown Fire Department, Norriton Fire Engine Company, Plymouth Community Ambulance, East Norriton Police, and Norristown Police responded to the scene.

All 11 of the family's pets were rescued from the scene and transported to receive care, according to the Red Paw Emergency Relief Team.

The cats were treated at the Metropolitan Veterinary Associates & Emergency Services, officials said. One cat was treated for minor burns, and one is receiving oxygen after suffering smoke inhalation. Both are expected to recover. One cat passed away after the fire from his injuries, Red Paw said.
