2-Alarm Fire In Norristown Burns Through Home, Displaces 3

Breaking: A two-alarm fire in the early hours Friday morning severely damaged a residence and left three people without a home.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A two-alarm fire in the early hours Friday morning severely damaged a Norristown residence and left three people without a home.

The incident occurred at around 4:08 a.m. on the 600 block of Swede Street, according to the Norristown Fire Department.

When crews arrived, they located the fire in the first floor of the rear apartment, and found that it was extending into the second floor apartment, Norristown Fire Chief Tom O'Donnell said.

As the blaze continued, a second alarm was struck at about 4:29 a.m., bringing additional assistance to the scene that was "much needed," O'Donnell noted.

With the additional resources, the blaze was swiftly extinguished.

The cause of the fire was electrical in nature, officials said.

No injuries were reported. The three adults that were displaced by the blaze were provided housing by American Red Cross.
