2 Water Mains To Be Replaced In Norristown

The projects represent more than half a million dollars in investment in Norristown's water mains.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Two new projects to improve Norristown's infrastructure will be underway shortly, Pennsylvania American Water announced Tuesday. The projects represent more than half a million dollars in investment in Norristown's water mains.

The first project - a $250,000 investment - will replace 800 feet of aging water main pipe on Jacoby Street that was installed around 1900. The affected area is between Swede Street and DeKalb Street.

Work will begin at the end of this month and will continue through the end of the December, when it is expected to be completed. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

The second project - a $350,000 investment - involves replacing 1,200 feet of pipe on Haws Avenue from W. Marshall Street to Main Street. A fire hydrant and 40 service lines will also be replaced, authorities said.

Work will begin on Nov. 27 and will be completed by the end of December. Hours for this project are also 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
