25-Bed Code Blue Shelter Open In Norristown Amidst Freeze

NORRISTOWN, PA — A special Code Blue shelter will open in Norristown this week as temperatures plummet to dangerous lows around the region.
The 25-bed shelter will be set up at St. John's Church, on 520 Church Street, the same location as the Cecil and Grace Bean's Soup Kitchen.
The shelter will be open from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. throughout the county's emergency declaration, which is scheduled from Wednesday, Jan. 17 through Sunday, Jan. 21.

"We have been filling to capacity, so if you need shelter, please get there early to ensure space is available," organizers said.
The shelter is looking for help in providing dinners over the weekend. If you are able to donate food, please email matt@hospitalitycenter.org.

Other items needed include water, snacks, and drinks. Items can be dropped at the shelter at 7:30 p.m. on any night it is open, or at the Hospitality Center next door on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
