ACPPA Glow Party
This Saturday, local community art center ACPPA is hosting a super fun glow-themed party for people 10-22!

Ready, Set, GLOW!
As the days seem to be getting shorter, with nighttime starting sooner and sooner, it’s time for ACPPA’s GLOW Party! When the sun sets on October 24th, the fun will begin!
From 7-9pm that night, kids ages 10-22 will fill the halls and shine under the blacklight. Temporary glow tattoos, a Photo Booth, neon soccer, glow bowling, graffiti walls and more will make 506 Haws Ave in Norristown the place to be that night! Admission is completely FREE, but there will be food/drinks, to refuel all party guests after having lots of fun, and glow swag for purchase, to make the experience even better!

Perhaps the most important aspect of this party is the relationships that will be built between all partygoers. This event is also meant for the younger kids and the older college students to form positive bonds and to establish a mentorship. And, what better way is there to do both than working together on a craft, singing their hearts out to karaoke, or being teammates in a friendly neon soccer game?
Even though there is no cover charge, this party serves to help fund ACPPA’s CASA program—the free Creative After School Alternative session for middle school students using art as a platform and a tool to build positive futures. Donations will also be accepted that night, to provide a student an after-school snack or for materials to let their inspirations run wild, in addition to building self esteem and strong bonds with other students in the program.

The Arts are essential to every child, especially here at ACPPA. According to the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies, “research has shown that what students learn in the arts may help them to master other subjects, such as reading, math or social studies.” This, along with many other findings, shows just how crucial art integration is. Additionally, a study published on Youth.gov found that “[m]entoring programs are capable of making a positive difference in multiple domains of youth behavior and development,” along with “[p]olicies that strengthen families, schools, neighborhoods, and communities—especially those that cultivate a strong ethic of collective responsibility for mentoring our next generation—are vital for ensuring that young people receive guidance and support from caring adults.” The bottom line is “[a]s a strategy for helping young people succeed in school, work and life, mentoring works.”
So, come to ACPPA Saturday, October 24th from 7-9pm and have a blast with glow party fun while simultaneously changing the lives of many children in the area.
