Alleged Drunk Bridgeport Man Crashes Into Three Vehicles After Wild Spree: Cops

Cops: the ran a red light, fled the police, drove in circles in a busy intersection, drove the wrong way on Route 202, and then crashed.

Upper Merion, PA -- A Bridgeport man has been arrested for driving under the influence after he allegedly ran a red light, drove in circles around an intersection, and crashed into three cars, according to the Upper Merion Police Department.

Todd A. Palmer, 34, of West Third Street, ran the red light on Route 202 south in Upper Merion at about 10:49 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, police said.

When an officer put his siren and lights on in an attempt to pull the man over, he sped away, authorities said.

He was found a few moments later driving in circles in the middle of a large and busy intersection at Route 202 and North Gulph Road.

When Palmer saw the cop, he drove past the cop and headed north on 202 in the southbound lanes, police said.

At Long Road, the car, a Honda, crossed back over into the southbound lanes, and shortly thereafter crashed into three vehicles at King Circle, police said.

When police approached his car, Palmer exited "aggressively" and with "closed fists," the police report states.

Palmer was tased and then arrested, police said.

One of the individuals involved in the crash was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital for treatment.

He will be charged with fleeing and elduing, reckless endangerment, driving under the influence, and other counts.

A preliminary hearing has been set for July 18.
