• Tick Disease Rates Rising In Montgomery Co.: Latest Statistics (patch.com) — From Norristown, health officials are tracking a sharp rise in Lyme disease across Montgomery County as tick season peaks, with local infection rates climbing since mid-April. Residents are urged to take extra precautions outdoors, from using repellents and protective clothing to checking for ticks after time in yards, parks, and nearby wooded areas.    

• East Norriton man sent to prison for domestic assault (pottsmerc.com subscription) — A Norristown court has sentenced an East Norriton Township man to 6½ to 15 years in state prison after he admitted to a violent domestic assault at a Stony Way residence. The judge ordered strict no-contact with the victim, mandated counseling, and recommended a substance abuse evaluation following detailed police accounts of the incident and injuries.    

• MCCC celebrates 17 Gateway to College graduates (timesherald.com) — Montgomery County Community College’s Gateway to College program just celebrated 17 new graduates, and Norristown is one of 23 partner school districts that can refer students into this opportunity. The program helps disengaged high schoolers finish diplomas while earning college credits, with many graduates moving on to MCCC, trades, four-year schools, or the workforce.
