Animals Rescued After Fire at Montgomery County SPCA

Animals were quickly evacuated after a fire broke out overnight at the Montgomery County SPCA.

All animals were rescued safely from the Montgomery County SPCA in Conshohocken after a fire broke out in the early morning hours of Saturday.

Fire officials said that the blaze began at about 1:30 a.m. Authorities were alerted when the employee on-duty called 911.

Battling sub-freezing temperatures, crews ventilated the roof and quickly attacked the flames, subduing the blaze within an hour, according to officials. Animals were evacuated from the shelter during the fire and taken to SPCA locations in Abington and Perkiomenville.
