
NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown's Elmwood Park Zoo announced the death of one of their beloved animals on Monday.
Arya, a North American river otter, died on Sunday at the age of five and a half.
The zoo's care staff saw that Arya had not been eating her food, and they placed her nder anesthesia to determine the issue.

While under anesthesia, she passed away.
A post-mortem did identify an abscess in her sinus, officials said.

At Elmwood, Arya had lived with Rocky, the zoo's 15-year-old male river otter, since 2015.
