"This is a topic that has been in a news recently, and is an issue that is important to members of the community, since Montgomery County has one of the highest number of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder receiving services in Pennsylvania. Additionally, in six years, the number of pre-adjudicated charges associated with autistic individuals more than doubled. Our training is aimed to prepare law enforcement officers for common interactions they may have with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and learn how to effectively navigate those interactions for the safety and welfare of the individual and the officer."
