Boston Marathon Finishers From The Norristown Area

How did your local runners do in Monday's Boston Marathon?

Several athletes from the Norristown area competed in the 120th running of the Boston Marathon on Monday, braving warm temperatures and 26.2 punishing miles.

Geraint H. Davies, 25, of Philadelphia, led the way for Pennsylvanians in the race, coming in with a time of 2:36:11.

At the front, the race was swept by a dominating performance from East Africans. Lemi Berhanu Hayle won the men's race in 2:12:45.

Of the top 15, 11 of the runners represented an East African nation: Ethiopia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Uganda.

On the women's side, Ethiopia's Atsede Baysa won in 2:29:19. Similarly, 11 of the top 15 women were from East Africa.

Times were slower across the board due to the heat. The course records of 2:03:02 and 2:18:57 were well out of reach.
