Certification of Election Results Postponed in Montgomery County

Amid calls by presidential candidate Jill Stein for a recount in PA, the certification of results in Montgomery County has been postponed.

Montgomery County has decided to postpone the certification of the results of the 2016 election, citing the potential statewide recount, the county announced in a statement late Monday.

“We have been put on notice by the Jill Stein campaign and a number of citizens in Montgomery County that they intend to challenge the results of the 2016 general election and they are seeking a recount," said Valerie Arkoosh, chair of the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

Arkoosh said that the county had received 91 petitions calling for a recount.

The certification date has been delayed until Dec. 12 at noon.

Nearby, Bucks County has also decided to delay certification pending recount. Appeals of results in the 156th district of Chester County have launched a recount there.

President-elect Donald Trump has called the recount a "scam." While Stein's camp is behind the recount, Hillary Clinton's has camp said it would cooperate.
