Construction Leads To Scheduled Restrictions On U.S. 422 Near Valley Forge

U.S. 422 near Valley Forge, as well as Route 23, will have lanes restricted as bridge construction continues next week.

U.S. 422 near Valley Forge, as well as Route 23, will have lanes restricted as bridge construction continues, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said.

Lane closures will begin on U.S. 422 West from I-76 to the First Avenue interchange in Upper Merion. They will be in place from Tuesday, June 26 through Thursday, June 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Then on Wednesday and Thursday, June 28-29, the ramp from Route 23 to westbound U.S. 422 will be shut down and a detour put in place. Flaggers will direct motorists to eastbound 23 in order to access 422. Closures will be in place from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday.

Finally, on Thursday, June 29, at 7 p.m., to 5 a.m. on Friday, June 30, eastbound U.S. 422 will experience lane closures from Route 23 to First Avenue.

Lane closures will cover parts of both Upper Merion and West Norriton but could affect traffic in surrounding municipalities.

The work, which has been ongoing for months in the Valley Forge area, is part of PennDOT's $97.4 million plan to rehabilitate bridges over the Schuylkill River.
