Cops Track Down Montco Man Who Threatened To Commit Suicide

The man had a rope in his pocket and he admitted to police that he planned on killing himself before the was found.

LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA -- Authorities in Lower Providence searched for and eventually found a man who had threatened to commit suicide before he could act on his words.

The incident occurred on Saturday, March 25, when individuals at a medical facility in Lower Providence contacted police because the man had threatened to kill himself by hanging.

Police searched the area with no luck.

Several hours passed until Corporal Rob Heim saw the man leaving a bar in Audubon.

Police found a rope on the man's person, and he admitted to police that he had been planning to kill himself.

Police said that the man was intoxicated when he was brought in.

Authorities transported him to Montgomery County Emergency Services for treatment.

Heim was assisted on the scene by Sergeant Mark Stead, Officer Charles Murray, and Officer Zach Wise.

"If not for the actions of these officers, the suicidal man may have acted on his threat. Good job to all of those involved," police said in a statement.
