Cosby Preliminary Hearing Is Tuesday In Norristown: What To Know

The municipality is expecting the Courthouse area to be significantly affected by traffic.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- The municipality is expecting significant traffic around the area of the Montgomery County Courthouse on Monday as media representatives and nearby residents flood in for the preliminary hearing in the Bill Cosby case.

The motion hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Satellite trucks and crews began to arrive in the area Monday night.

The municipality released the following information regarding the day:

  • Due to the large amount of media coverage, it will possibly impact certain operations of the Norristown Police Department, Montgomery County Courthouse and the businesses around the Courthouse.
  • The Norristown Police Department is working in conjunction with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, County Security and the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts (AOPC), to organize this event to lessen the impact.

Satellite trucks and media crews will be parked on the east side of Swede St, between Airy and Main Streets and on the west side of Swede Street, between Penn and Main Streets. They will also be parked on the north side of Penn Street, between Swede and Cherry Street.

Swede Street between Airy and Main Streets will remain open to vehicular traffic. However, it will be reduced to one lane of travel.

Beginning at 6:00am on February 2, officers from various departments will be stationed on Swede and Penn Streets, to assist with vehicular or pedestrian traffic movement, as well as any crowds

It’s anticipated that the media will remain in Norristown throughout the daylight hours on February 2nd.
