December Events in the Children's Department at Norristown Public Library

Here's what's happening for kids at the Library in December

ALL CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED. We suggest you arrive early to guarantee admission. Doors will close and a sign will be posted on the door to the Children’s Learning Center when maximum capacity for each program has been reached. Programs begin on time.

Mondays through December 14

  • KidsMake – 4:30 pm - For kids who like to try new things. Crafts, science projects, building projects, electronics, and more! For kids in grades 3-6. A parent-signed release form is required to attend. Class size is limited.

Tuesdays through December 15

  • Get Ready for Kindergarten – 10:30 am – Block Party: Preschoolers hear stories and use wooden blocks to learn about their world, how to cooperate with each other, and develop problem solving and fine motor skills. For children ages 3-1/2 to 5. Class size is limited. Drop in.

Tuesdays through December 15

  • KidsMake Studio – 4:30 pm – Open workshop time for kids who attend our regular KidsMake sessions. We supply the materials, the kids think up the projects! A parent-signed release form is required to attend. Class size is limited.

  • Homework Helpers – 5:00-7:00 pm – Bilingual volunteers are available to help students with homework. For kids in grades K-6.

Tuesdays through December 15

  • Theater Workshop – 6:30 pm – Join Ms. Tiffany for an exciting introduction to acting and theater. For kids in grades 3-6.

Wednesdays through December 16

  • Baby Lap Rap –10:30 am - Simple stories, songs, rhymes and fingerplays for your baby and you! Ages 0-24 months with a caregiver. Drop in.

Thursdays through December 17

  • Toddler Tickle Tales – 10:30 am - Stories, songs, fingerplays and simple games for the active toddler and early preschool child, followed by playgroup time with toys. Ages 2-4 with a caregiver. Drop in.

Thursdays, December 3 through 17

  • Evening Stories – 7:00 pm - Join Ms. Susan for stories, songs, and movement fun for the whole family. Ages 0-6. Drop in.

Saturday, December 12

  • Build! –10:30 am-12:00 pm - Create and build using a variety of great materials for the budding engineer: LEGO, K’Nex, Straws & Connectors, and more! For children in grades K-6—children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Drop in.

Saturday, December 19

  • Roll Over and Read! – 11:00 am-1:00 pm – Kids can read to specially trained therapy dogs. Bring your own book or read one of ours! For children in grades K-6. Drop in.

Saturday, December 19

  • Sew Awesome! – 2:00 pm – Learn hand and machine sewing and make fun fabric creations. If you’ve never sewn before or need a refresher, come for our special beginner’s class at 1:30. For kids in grades 3-6. A parent-signed release form is required to attend.

Tuesday, December 29

  • Bingo! – 2:00 – Join us to play this popular game. Prizes awarded. Grades K-6. Children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Drop in.
