Donald Trump Stops At Wawa After Campaigning In King of Prussia

Donald Trump and his entourage swung by a Wawa on Tuesday afternoon after campaigning in the area.

On the tails of a campaign event with running mate Mike Pence in King of Prussia, Republican presidential nominee did something that will resonate with many Pennsylvanians: he stopped at Wawa.

Trump, along with much of his campaign staff, including his daughter Tiffany, went inside the store. According to various Twitter reports from the Trump entourage, Trump himself did not buy anything, but others in his group bought tastycakes.

Among national figures singing the praises of the Delaware Valley's signature story was Kellyanne Conway, Trump's campaign manager.

"Best. Day Ever," she wrote. "Up in new polls, and joining @RealDonaldTrump today in Philly suburbs to visit my favorite store: Wawa."

Donald Trump's sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, also expressed their love for the store:

Trump senior is likely familiar with the chain as he attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. At the time that Trump was in school, however, Wawa wasn't the success that it is today. Wawa was founded in 1964 and Trump graduated from Penn in 1968.

His daughter Tiffany graduated from Penn in the spring of 2016.

Trump's speech at a private event on Tuesday at the DoubleTree by Hilton focused on Obamacare and cited rising premium rates for various states.

The event came the same day as Grammy-nominated singer Sara Bareilles performed and campaigned for Hillary Clinton in Philadelphia.

Nationally, Clinton's lead over Trump was down to 2.2 points, according to an average of polls compiled by RealClearPolitics. The poll cited by Crowley was an ABC/Washington Post Poll that showed Trump up by one point.

Controversy continues to swirl around both campaigns in the final days before the election. The FBI is investigating more emails from Clinton and one of her top aides, Huma Abedin. And the Clinton campaign is calling for further investigation of Trump in the wake of a report that there is a secret server registered to Trump Tower that has been communicating with Russia.

“This could be the most direct link yet between Donald Trump and Moscow," Hillary for America Senior Policy Adviser Jake Sullivan said in a statement. "This line of communication may help explain Trump's bizarre adoration of Vladimir Putin and endorsement of so many pro-Kremlin positions throughout this campaign."

Clinton maintains a 6.0 point lead in Pennsylvania, but that margin could be threatened by low voter turnout in Philadelphia if the SEPTA strike is not resolved by Election Day.
