Don't Forget: Norristown Is Participating In Drug Take Back Day

NORRISTOWN, PA -- National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is this Saturday, and you can drop your medications off at several area locations.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 29.

This spring’s Take Back Day, which coincides with the DEA’s nationwide Take Back Day, is a chance for area residents to clean out their medicine cabinets of unwanted, unused and expired prescription medications and dispose of them easily in a safe, environmentally friendly way.

Ridding medicine cabinets of these medications is an important step in combatting the growing opioid and heroin epidemic, which often begins with prescription medicines taken from a home medicine cabinet. In addition to helping fight addiction, safe and proper disposal of prescription medications helps fight pollution, officials said. Flushing medicine down the toilet is not safe.

Prescription medicines can be in their original prescription bottles with the label removed or can be placed in plastic bags.
