Breaking: A portion of Germantown Pike has been shut down in both directions on Thursday due to downed wires and trees.

LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — A portion of Germantown Pike has been shut down in both directions on Thursday due to downed wires, trees, and transformers, according to officials.
The closure impacts the part of the road between Crosskeys Road and Ridge Pike in Lower Providence. Traffic in the surrounding area is expected to be impacted.
PECO crews responded to the scene. According to outage maps, there were around a dozen homes without power as a result of the incident.

Lower Providence Township said they expected the closure of the road to be an "extended" affair.
