Downed Wires Shut Down Norristown, Lower Providence Roads

Breaking: Downed trees and wires closed main roads in Lower Providence and Norristown early Monday.

High winds brought down trees and power lines early Monday, causing outages and road closures around the region, including in the local area.

In Norristown, Burnside Avenue was shut down between Eagle Drive and Oakland Drive after a tree came down across wires, officials said. The road was reopened at around 10:15 a.m., officials confirmed.

And over in Lower Providence, Eagleville Road was closed between South Park Avenue and Pinetown Road due to a downed tree and power lines, according to police.

More than 8,200 Montgomery County residents were without power Monday morning.
