'Easiest Scholarship Ever' In Montco Advocates For AEDs
Sudden cardiac arrest is the number one cause of death in student athletes, and Montgomery County is taking a preventative stance.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Sudden cardiac arrest is the number one cause of death in student athletes, and Montgomery County is taking a preventative stance.
A new scholarship contest - dubbed the "easiest scholarship ever" - challenges high school to students upload the location of AED devices to the new PulsePoint AED smartphone app.
The contest is designed to register as many AEDs in Montgomery County as possible.

Each month, the high school junior or senior who registers the most AEDs will receive a $250 scholarship.
“AED devices are the only tool that can save someone in cardiac arrest,” said Darren Sudman, CEO and
CoFounder of Simon’s Fund, in a statement. “Our crowdfunding site, GotAED, is trying to get them into places where kids learn and play, so it was a no-brainer to support this partnership between the county and PulsePoint.”
