Einstein Names New Director of Nursing Excellence

Nancy Pokorny, RN, MSN, MHA, has been appointed Director of Nursing Excellence for Einstein Healthcare Network.

In her new role, Nancy will provide direction and leadership in all areas that support professional nursing practice. She will work to implement programs and practices that promote nursing excellence, best practices, and improved patient outcomes. In addition, she will implement strategies necessary to meet Institute of Medicine recommendations as published in the Future of Nursing, support Einstein’s shared governance structure and exceed nursing practice performance as described in the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program®. She will continue to manage Einstein’s nurse extern program.

Pokorny is a long-time Einstein employee, having joined the organization as a direct care
nurse in the Emergency Unit in 1973, and subsequently has held positions as Assistant Nurse Manager; Coordinator; and as Nurse Recruiter. In 2011, Pokorny served as an interim Co-Director of Nursing at Belmont Center for Comprehensive Treatment, and most recently served as Nursing Career Specialist.

Pokorny holds an Associate of Science in Nursing from Gwynedd-Mercy College, a Bachelor of Science in Health Arts from University of Saint Francis, a Master of Science in Health Administration from Saint Joseph’s University, and a Master of Science in Nursing Administration from LaSalle University.
