Elmwood Park To Be Redesigned, Improved; Norristown Seeking Input
The key Norristown park, ravaged by natural disaster in recent years, will be expanded and reshaped. Officials are seeking public input.
NORRISTOWN, PA — Norristown is planning a major rehabilitation of Elmwood Park in the coming years, after hurricanes, floods, and fires and wreaked havoc on the 40 acre property on the banks of Stony Creek.
In addition to improving the existing park — which does not include the zoo grounds — the new plans will expand the park's property to cover Roosevelt Field, officials said.
The details of exactly what the improvements to the park will look like are still being developed, and the municipality has retained an architectural firm, Simone Collins Landscape Architecture, to help with the plan.
