Elmwood Park Zoo Capybara, Heri, Passes Away

NORRISTOWN, PA — Elmwood Park Zoo announced the passing of one of their beloved animals on Wednesday.
Heri, a male capybara, was humanely euthanized recently.
Heri, who was about six years old, had been suffering from tumors that veterinarians believed had spread to his lymph nodes.

For the past several years, Heri has been there through thick and thin with the zoo's female capybara, Scar.
"Heri will be sorely missed by his Elmwood Park Zoo family," the zoo said in an announcement. "Despite his large size, he was a sensitive rodent that brought happiness to staff and visitors alike."
