Elmwood Park Zoo Celebrates 95th Anniversary, Offers Discounts

Elmwood is celebrating its 95th year in 2019 with several special events, including discounted admission on every Monday.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Just under 95 years ago, Elmwood Park Zoo opened up to the public for the first time. They had nothing but six white tailed deer.

Today, Elmwood is one of the oldest accredited zoos in the nation with animals from all over the world, ranging from jaguars and zebras to giraffes and bison.

To celebrate their 95th year, Elmwood will offer its first 95 guests on every Monday through 2019 a discounted admission rate of $9.95, they announced.

"We are proud and excited to be observing such a distinctive occasion," said Al Zone, Elmwood Park Zoo's Executive Director and CEO. "It's humbling to be part of such a long running and beloved institution, and to know that you had a hand in its success."

Other events include the Wine Safari on Aug. 16, the Beast of a Feast fundraiser on June 20, the Golfing Fore Conservation event on Sept. 23, and the Anniversary Gala on Nov. 14.

In 2018 the zoo had more than 600,000 guests and 13,000 members, officials noted.
