Elmwood Park Zoo, Norristown Fire Co. Team Up For 'Fire Smart'

Norristown's Fire Smart is a family-friendly day at the Zoo filled with activities to promote fire safety and prevention.

NORRISTOWN, PA -- The Elmwood Park Zoo and the Norristown Fire Department are teaming up for a "Fire Smart" program on Saturday, October 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Fire Smart is a family-friendly day filled with activities to promote fire safety and prevention, the Zoo announced.

This year's activities include a meet and greet with Norristown firefighters, police officers and EMTs, opportunities for children to dress up as a firefighter, operate a fire hose, tour a fire truck, and much more.

Families will learn about safety and prevention of fires and children will have a change to go through a Smoke House, where a fire is simulated and they are taught how to escape safely, a press release states.

Various other organizations will be on site throughout the day with additional health and safety information.

Zoo admission is $9 on Saturday, October 15.

Fire Smart is free to attend with zoo admission.
