A former PA state trooper was sentenced to three to 23 months in prison in the killing of his wife and unborn child in Montgomery County.

EAST NORRITON, PA — A former Pennsylvania state trooper charged in the killing of his wife and unborn child inside their East Norriton home in 2014 has been sentenced to three to 23 months in prison, according to court documents.

Joseph Miller, 37, of East Norriton, pleaded guilty last September to two counts of involuntary manslaughter after a three-year investigation into the incident led to his arrest in March of 2017.

Miller alleged he had been cleaning his gun when it went off and accidentally shot and killed his wife, who was pregnant, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office. The child was born via c-section, but died soon thereafter.
