PENNSYLVANIA — Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane has been acquitted on charges of drunken driving near Scranton in March, according to court documents and media reports.

Kane, 55, was originally found guilty of violating her probation in connection with the incident. She was sentenced to rehab and two months to a year behind bars, though she was given credit for time served.

Kane's attorney Jason Mattioli told 6ABC that police officers made her take a field sobriety test in a windy, icy parking lot.

"She was set up to fail," Mattioli told the outlet.

The Associated Press reported in May that Kane was sent directly to a residential treatment center for alcohol use. She was also sentenced to three years probation.

“She’s been humbled by this experience, and I believe that she won’t be back here again,” Kane's lawyer Marc Steinberg told AP.

Kane was originally convicted back in 2016 of leaking secret grand jury information to the news media in order to get back at a political rival and then lying about her actions under oath.

She served as attorney general from 2013 to 2016.
