Kane was once considered a rising star in the Democratic Party, winning a huge victory in the 2012 election, before leaking information about a grand jury probe in an attempt to embarass a rival.

The incident led to a lengthy and highly publicized controversy. She was ultimately sentenced to 10 to 23 months behind bars in Oct. 2016 in Montgomery County Court.
