Temperatures are finally on the rise. Get out of the house this weekend and enjoy it.

We got a taste of spring last week, but the snow and cold temperatures have returned in full force—and cabin fever has reached epidemic levels. Here are some ideas for awesome things to do to get you out of the house!

Where and When: Norristown Area High School, 1900 Eagle Drive., Norristown; Feb. 25, 5 to 10 p.m.

Why go: Ready, set, scrap! Enjoy five hours of scrapbooking, including dinner, dessert and beverages. A Creative Memories consultant will be on hand to answer questions and provide materials.

Where and When: Montgomery County Community College, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell; Feb. 25, 8 p.m.

Why go: Featuring films that present a historical and cultural perspective on the gay and lesbian experience, the college’s Multicultural Film Series will screen Deepa Mehta’s “Fire” Feb. 25. The 1996 Hindi film has subtitles and explores the relationship between two women born of their confinement by social expectations.

Price: $5

 

Where and When: Greater Norristown PAL, 340 Harding Blvd., Norristown; Feb. 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: The third annual tournament has competitive and recreational levels of play, and Norristown Patch will be on hand to take pictures and cheer everyone on.

Where and When: Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library; 1001 Powell St., Norristown; Feb. 26, 2 p.m.

Why go: Historian Howard J. Scott comes to the library for an event allowing the public to see and touch authentic black history artifacts, articles and coins, and learn little-known facts. All ages are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Price: Free

 

Where and When: Church of the Messiah, 1001 DeKalb Pike, Ambler; Feb. 26, 4 to 8 p.m.

Why go: Local artist Lina Minicucci’s solo exhibit of her original Byzantine Iconography artwork is free and open to the public. Byzantine Iconography is a form of art featuring religious images, created to promote reverence in worship and to serve as a link between the worshipper and God.

Price: Free
