The kids have been out of school for a couple weeks and they’re probably already complaining that they don’t have anything to do. Well, Norristown Patch to the rescue!

Why go: PAL offers affordable martial arts classes for all ages, teaching physical and mental fitness and self defense.
Price: $20/month, plus GNPAL membership
Where/When: Norristown Farm Park, 2500 Upper Farm Road, Norristown; July 2, 8 to 10 a.m.
Why go: Enjoy an early morning bird walk to see breeding birds on the nest or raising young. Bring binoculars if you have them. Pre-registration is required. The event is for ages 8 and up. Meet in Parking Lot 2. Call 610-270-0215 for more details or to register.

Why go: The world’s only doesn’t have regular operating hours, but has an open house about once a month to give you a chance to see the museum’s almost 100,000 pieces.
Price: Free admission, but donations are appreciated.

Why go: Discover the world of fireflies, and learn about their amazing behavior and life cycle. The event is for ages 6 to adult.
