Why go: It’s Dr. Seuss’ birthday! Visit the children’s department for a slice of birthday cake, and take the “Fox in Socks” challenge. Norristown Patch will even be there with free balloons for the kids!

Why go: Students and parents get to engage in reading together in fun ways, like "Read, Stop and Share," and reading together on beach chairs or in sleeping bags.

Where/When: Elmwood Park Zoo, 1661 Harding Blvd., Norristown; March 5
Why go: Elmwood Park Zoo is opening for the season! Opening Day Extravaganza will feature animal encounters, delicious food, live animal shows, face painting and more. Norristown Patch will be there too—stop and say hi!
Price: Free for Norristown residents
Where/When: Please Touch Museum, 4231 Avenue of the Republic, Philadephia; Mondays in March, 10 a.m.
Why go: The museum offers creative parent/child play sessions. An Instrument Safari workshop explores the wild world of musical instruments.
Price: Members – $20 per session, $75 for all sessions; nonmembers – $25 per session, $90 for all sessions.
Where/When: Montgomery County-Norristown Public Library, 1001 Powell St., Norristown; March 8, 1 to 2 p.m.
Why go: Norristown area schools have early dismissal today, so stop by the library, create a Roman mosaic to celebrate the Ides of March, and enjoy a Roman “feast.” This event is for ages 6 and up.
