More donations are needed in the weeks leading up to the holidays to help stock the shelves, the Red Cross said.
Many donors typically do not give blood between Thanksgiving and New Years Day due to other activities and travel.

For patient Emily Bratton, getting a blood donation after the birth of her first child saved her life.
“I know that my life was saved because someone, somewhere, was willing to donate their blood,” said Bratton. “There aren’t words to describe how incredibly thankful I am that people are willing to donate blood to help a stranger.”

Upcoming events will be held in Norristown on Nov. 11 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hampton Inn and Suites on 100 Cresson Boulevard.
