Hundreds To Gather To Beautify Norristown Neighborhood

NORRISTOWN, PA — A massive cleanup and revitalization project will take place this weekend in Norristown.
The "Rock the Block" community cleanup event, organized by Habitat for Humanity MontDelco, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5.
More than 250 residents, volunteers, and other local nonprofits and organizations will gather on the 800 block of Cherry Street.

Organizers summed it up as "collective social impact through volunteerism."
"The dedication of volunteers impacts the community, especially a marginalized community, economically, physically, and socially," said Chandra Deal, with Habitat for Humanity MontDelco. "Volunteers connect with the community and build relationship that directly impact change.

They have more than 20 projects planned for the day, including painting homes, mending fences, landscaping the block, and cleaning the streets and nearby parks.
Several local leaders will be on hand, including State Sen. Daylin Leach, Habitat for Humanity MontDelco CEO Marianne Lynch, and leaders and representatives from other organizations and participating corporations.
The Rock the Block program has seen great success elsewhere, with more than 111 projects completed since 2016.
The event will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers are welcome.
