James Harden Fined $100K By NBA For Calling Sixers President A 'Liar'
An NBA investigation found that Harden was planning on refusing to play for the Sixers, Ben Simmons-style.

PHILADELPHIA, PA — After his latest tradmark inflammatory comments set the basketball world ablaze with gossip mongering once more, beleaguered Sixers star James Harden was fined $100,000 by the NBA.
The fine was for calling Sixers president Daryl Morey a "liar" during a public tour of sorts in China earlier in the month.

“Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of," Harden said, adding for characteristically immoderate and even infamous effect: "Let me say that again. Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of."
Specifically, the NBA said in a statement that they took issue with Harden's claims that "he would not perform the services called for under his player contract unless traded to another team," much like Ben Simmons in his final year in Philly.

The league said that their investigation, which included an interview with Harden and others involved, found that Harden believed the Sixers planned to refuse his request to be traded.
Harden appears to want more money than Morey is willing to give. Harden himself declared free agency, though he appeared to say a few months ago that this didn't mean he didn't want to stay in Philly.
The latest comments, however, seem to suggest an impasse has been reached.
