Local Boy, 9, Honored By Council For Keeping Norristown Beautiful

Grayson Anthony McCoy has inspired other children to join in his various cleanup efforts, which have collected 800 pounds of litter.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A young Norristown resident was recognized at the municipal council meeting Tuesday night for his herculean work to keep the community beautiful.

Grayson Anthony McCoy, 9, was presented with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful’s "2025 Stewards for Tomorrow Youth Award."

The program recognizes an "outstanding community member" under the age of 18. Grayson was presented the award by Keep Norristown Beautiful Director Lisa Bobyock and received applause from the council and attendees.

It's just the latest award for Grayson, who helped collect more than 800 pounds of litter throughout more than 30 cleanups around Norristown.

"He is known for encouraging other neighborhood children to join his cleanup efforts, inspiring teamwork and community pride," the municipality of Norristown shared in a statement honoring Grayson last month.

Grayson also helped the community volunteering at "Make Your Own Rain Barrel Workshops," and he created a "Fishing for Litter" game for Norristown's National Night Out that engaged many of his young peers.

“He is a true warrior when it comes to picking up litter and spreading the word to his friends and neighbors," Bobyock said of Grayson.
