Local Small Biz Bankers Part of BOA's Growth Plan

Five new hires in Montgomery County are part of the industry giant's plan to mobilize over 1,000 new small business bankers in the U.S.

Bank of America (BOA) recently hired five Montgomery County small business bankers as part of its plan to bring in over 1,000 new small business bankers across the country. Among them was Kimberly Miller, who will be providing small business services for the Norristown area.

The more than 75 small business bankers already hired in the mid-Atlantic region are overseen by the company's small business banker region executive, Raj Kochhar.

“As small businesses, both in the mid-Atlantic and across the country, continue to help drive our economy forward, our small business bankers will be there to provide them with the solutions they need to better manage their finances and run more efficiently,” Kochhar said.

The bankers’ responsibilities will include setting appointments, visiting small businesses, and assessing credit and cash management to help small business owners manage their companies more efficiently.

Rita Hollingsworth, senior vice president of Small Business Banking for Pennsylvania and Southern New Jersey, is optimistic about the bankers’ abilities to work with the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and provide assistance to small business bankers.

“We’re very pleased with the hirings in Montgomery County," she said. "They’re providing more personalized attention to small business owners.”

Hollingsworth also plans to reach out to volunteer workers and local charities in the county.

“We are really looking to be true community leaders,” said Hollingsworth.

Bank of America extended $18 billion of credit to small businesses in 2010 and awarded $10 million in grants to nonprofit leaders to use as loan loss reserves required to access federal microlending capital. It is one of the largest financial institutions in the world, with approximately 5,800 retail banking offices, 18,000 ATMs and 30 million active online banking users.

The five local bankers and towns they provide service to are:

  • Kimberly Miller: Norristown and King of Prussia
  • Vincent Desidero: Pottstown, Trappe, Collegeville, Limerick and Royersford
  • Dana Crouse: Landsdale and North Wales
  • Michele Choplin: Conshohocken and Wayne
  • Justin Davids: Flowertown and Horsham
