Man Charged In Fatal Norristown Hit And Run
The man, who does not have a driver's license, told police he had 7 or 8 beers Sunday afternoon before he got behind the wheel.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A man who told police he had been drinking throughout the afternoon has been arrested for the fatal hit and run that occurred in Norristown early Sunday evening.
The incident occurred at 6:24 p.m. on the 600 block of Astor Street.
Nemias Perez Severiano, 31, of Norristown, was driving in his Toyota Scion when he struck 67-year-old Samuel Jackson, a local resident, as Jackson was getting out of his own car, authorities said. The speed limit in that area is 25 miles per hour.

Severiano, who does not have a driver's license, later told police he had been drinking at La Poblanita Mexican Bar, located on 419 W. Marshall Street, since about 1 p.m. on Sunday, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
He said he drank seven or eight Modelo beers while at the bar, and told police that he was "a little drunk" when he left at 6 p.m., the affidavit states.

Severiano added that he "heard a noise" after he turned onto Astor Street, according to the affidavit. Norristown Police said he was traveling at a "high rate of speed." The speed limit i that area is 25 miles per hour.
Officials said they were able to track Severiano down by reviewing surveillance footage from La Poblanita and nearby Colletti's Tavern, linking his vehicle to a description given by witnesses of the incident.
Jackson was taken to Suburban Community Hospital, where he was declared dead at 6:59 p.m.
The district attorney's office said that the case remains under investigation.
Severiano has been charged with accident involving death and related counts. Bail was set at $200,000, which he did not post, and he was taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 22.
