Man Wanted In Fatal Norristown Shooting, $5K Reward Offered: DA

NORRISTOWN, PA — A Philadelphia man is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in broad daylight in Norristown on Election Day last week, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office announced on Thursday.

A $5,000 reward has been posted for information leading to the arrest of Gerard Gethers, 29, of Philadelphia.

The incident occurred at around 3:36 p.m. on Nov. 3, on the 500 block of West Marshall Street.

Circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, but officials said that Gethers had previously vowed to "get even" with the victim, 34-year-old Jerry White.

Police said surveillance video shows a man in a hooded sweatshirt, wearing a COVID-19 mask, approach White and fire a black semi-automatic pistol several times.

Investigators said they used Gethers' distinctive tattoo on his left hand and other notable features to identify him as the shooter.

White was taken to Suburban Hospital by first responders, where he was later pronounced dead.

Gethers is described as a 6 feet tall and 190 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He frequents both Norristown and Philadelphia, the DA's Office said, and he should be considered armed and dangerous.
