March Events for Children at Norristown Public Library

ALL CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED, EXCEPT WHERE NOTED.

We suggest you arrive early to guarantee admission. Doors will close and a sign will be posted on the door to the Children’s Learning Center when maximum capacity for each program has been reached. Programs begin on time.

Mondays through May 9

KidsMake – 4:30 pm - For kids who like to try new things. Crafts, science projects, building projects, electronics, and more! For kids in grades 3-6. A parent-signed release form is required to attend. Class size is limited. No class on March 21 or March 28.

Tuesdays through May 10

Get Ready for Kindergarten – 10:30 am – March 15 through April 12 (no class March 22) – Fun With Favorite Picture Book Characters -- Preschoolers learn skills they will need for school through stories, crafts, games, and sensory play. For children ages 3-1/2 to 5 with a caregiver. Registration required – call 610-278-5100 x 205 or stop by the children’s department to sign up. Class size is limited. Drop in.

Tuesdays and Thursdays through June 9

Homework Helpers – 5:00-7:00 pm – Bilingual volunteers are available to help students with homework. For kids in grades K-6. No sessions on March 10, 22 and 24.

Wednesdays through May 11

Baby Lap Rap –10:30 am - Simple stories, songs, rhymes and fingerplays for your baby and you! Ages 0-24 months with a caregiver. Drop in. No class March 23.

Thursdays through May 12

Toddler Tickle Tales – 10:30 am - Stories, songs, fingerplays and simple games for the active toddler and early preschool child, followed by playgroup time with toys. March 24 will be a special Easter storytime, followed by an egg hunt in the library! Ages 2-4 with a caregiver. Drop in.

Thursdays through May 12

Evening Stories – 7:00 pm - Join Ms. Susan for stories, songs, and movement fun for the whole family. Ages 0-6. Drop in. No session on March 10 and March 24.

Tuesday, March 8

St. Patrick’s Day Fun – 2:00 pm – Come do some St. Patrick’s pop art and other holiday activities. Grades K-6. Drop in.

Thursday, March 10

NASD Art Gallery Night – 6:00-7:30 pm - Norristown area students display their fabulous art creations in the Children’s Department. Musical entertainment provided by a combined middle school/high school jazz band. Light refreshments will be served. All ages.

Saturday, March 12

Build! –10:30 am-12:00 pm - Create and build using a variety of great materials for the budding engineer: LEGO, K’Nex, Straws & Connectors, and more! For children in grades K-6—children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Drop in.

Saturday, March 19

Roll Over and Read! – 11:00 am-1:00 pm – Kids can read to specially trained therapy dogs. Bring your own book or read one of ours! For children in grades K-6. Drop in.

Saturday, March 19

Sew Awesome! – 2:00 pm – Learn hand and machine sewing and make fun fabric creations. For kids in grades 3-6. Registration required—call 610-278-5100 x 205 or stop by the Children’s Department to sign up. A parent-signed release form is required to attend.

Tuesday, March 22

Egg Dyeing and Decorating – 2:00 pm – Come color some Easter eggs and decorate them. For kids in grades K-6. Drop in.

Monday, March 28

Movie Monday – 2:00 pm – Join us for a family-friendly movie TBD. All ages. Drop in.
