Montco Man Sentenced For Snapchat Harassment Of HS Girl
The 19-year-old was reportedly among the first in Montgomery County to be prosecuted under a new cyber-bullying law.

NORRISTOWN, PA — A Whitemarsh man has been sentenced to a year of probation for harassing a teenage girl who was a student at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School, according to court documents.
Brett Brown, 19, pleaded guilty to cyber-harassment in the incidents, which occurred in May, court documents state.
The Times Herald reports that Brown's conviction is among the first in Montgomery County under the state's new cyber-bullying law. The law passed through the state House and Senate in 2015. Cyber-harassment of a child carries

Brown admitted to asking the 17-year-old girl for nude photographs through Snapchat, the report states. He did not know the girl, but found her using social media. He reportedly told the girl he already had nude photographs of her, and would release them to the public unless she sent them more.
In addition to a year of probation, Brown was also prohibited from using social media during that time, court documents show.

The sentencing was handed down by Judge Gary Silow.
