Montgomery Co. Fire Companies Receive $1.5M In Pandemic Grants

Dozens of fire departments received signfican federal funding to help recover from the impacts of the pandemic.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Montgomery County will provide $1.5 million in funding to 69 fire companies around the area as part of a special grant program aiming to assist in recovery from the pandemic.

The Fire Services Recovery Grant Program provides an average grant of $21,724 to local companies.

"Fire companies who demonstrated pandemic-related economic impacts, such as decreased revenue, loss of supplemental fundraising revenue, financial insecurity or hardship, increased costs, or challenges covering payroll, rent or mortgage, or other operating costs were eligible to receive funds," Montgoery County officials said in a statement.

A special ceremony and check presentation featuring county commissioners is slated for Thursday afternoon at the Montgomery County Special Operations Substation and Logistics Warehouse in Fort Washington.
